Success at the Eastern Region Surf Life Saving Pool Champs



Congratulations to Tamarau and Caitlin (both Rm 18 Totara House) who competed for Mount Maunganui in the Eastern Region Pool Champs. Both Caitlin and Tamarau had a very successful 2 days and this was great preparation for the NZ National Pool Champs in late September.

Open Water Swim - More Success

Well done also to Emily (Rm 18 Totara House) who was placed 3rd Year 7 Girl in the NZ Schools Open Water Swim. A great result swimming in a strong field. Check out the medal and pictured with James 4th Year 7 Boys (R17 Totara) and Caitlin sixth in the Year 7 Girls (R18 Totara).

Well done to Islah (Manuka House) who placed 2nd in the National Open Water Swim at Karapiro in the 500m event today. A great result an reward for all the hard work. All the best to our team of competitors competing in the Triathlon Nationals tomorrow.

Open Water Swim Success

Success at the PB/BOP Swimming Champs


Congratulations to our team of 19 who travelled to the PB/BOP Swimming Champs in Rotorua. A top effort by our competitors who were edged out by 8 points by Otumoetai Intermediate School to win top school. Our standout performer was Hamish Gilmour collecting 6 golds. Well done Islah (Manuka House) pictured who won gold in the 100m Freestyle. Please read our next newsletter for the complete results.

Poverty Bay / Bay of Plenty Open Water Swim







Friday 1 April

A team of 4 hearty swimmers braved the water temperatures at Lake Rotoma swimming a 2km Open Water Swim. Students who participated at the event were Keegan Witney, Grace Wright, Hamish Gilmour & Islah Kerr-Aim. Well done to Islah Kerr-Aim placed first in the Year 7 Girls, Hamish Gilmour placed 2nd in the Year 7 Boys and Keegan Witney who placed 4th in the Year 8 Boys.

PB/BOP Swimming Champions 2011

Well done to our PB/BOP Swimming Team who held off a strong Otumoetai Intermediate challenge to be crowned the Poverty Bay / Bay of Plenty Swimming Champions for 2011. A great team effort from our 24 students managed by Mrs Karen Hampton travelled to Rotorua on Friday 25 March and were greeted by cool conditions swimming in the open air 50m pool. Stand out performances for the school were a haul of 5 golds by Hamish Gilmour, 3 golds by George Williams and our relay teams winning 6 out of the 8 relays. Relay and overall team results were:
