SCHOOL SURFING

Congratulations to our surf team who placed 3rd at the PB/BOP sporting championships last Friday. Our best placing ever thanks to Miss Young for her continued efforts with this team who continue to go from strength to strength each year.

Pictured in red rash shirt is Jonas Tawharu, which we are really excited about as he is a current member of the New Zealand surf team. A powerful goofy foot surfer whose expert knowledge is evident in our recent top placing and we look forward to continued success with Jonas on board.

Tennis Champion

Last weekend - Saturday 5 April - Michael Chrisp Rm 20 won the Te Puna Tennis Championship Singles Final for boys 12 and under for the second year in a row against Alex Van Breda (RM20).  The final game was won 9-7 but took 1.45 hours to determine the winner and was played in 28oC heat. Both boys played extremely well with some amazing rallies and the final result could have gone either way.

Congratulations Michael and Alex, well done to the both of you.

Regional Schools Triathlon

The following results were achieved at the recent regional schools triathlon held at the Mount last weekend.
Year 8 boys
Fergus Hamilton 2nd ( a very close race between him and Harry Low from Otumoetai Intermediate, it was neck and neck over the finish line with a fraction of a second between first and second place.

Softball - Reps

Congratulations to  Te Awhina Smith Rm 9 and Aria Gardiner Rm 9 who were selected for the BOP U15 Girls Softball Team.  Out of many girls that trialled these two were phenomenal, and they are the youngest players selected.  They also trialled for U13s but their skill level was of U15 standard. They played in a one day tournament in Papakura last Sunday which the team won.  Well done girls.
