WBOP Regional Surfing Championships

On Thursday 28th March 2013 the Tauranga Intermediate School surfers competed in the WBOP regional surfing contest at Tay Street Mount Maunganui. We achieved way beyond our personal bests as none of our team had competed in a international rules surfing competition. Several of our surfers progressed into the next rounds and our best result was from Caitlin Fletcher who was a finalist in the Under13 girls. Her final result was fourth, but she also took out the gutsiest surfer of the contest award for paddling her foam board out the back in a four foot groundswell and her great competitive attitude when surfing against the top 3 girls in the country.

Third and Fifth at the BOP Surfing Champs

Well done to Lee, Jack, Scott, Todd, Georgia, Briarley, Lucy and Jasmine who competed at the BOP Surf Champs. The teams wer placed 3rd and 5th in the Tag Team Competition. Check out the action!

Lee and his success at the NZ Billabong Grom Series

Congratulations to Lee (Matai House) who surfed the NZ Billabong Grom Series competing at the Mount, Whangamata and Piha. At Piha (10-11 March) Lee placed 3rd. An outstanding result for Lee against a quality field of young surfers. Lee and a team of TIS surfers will be competing at the Bay and Poverty Bay / Bay of Plenty Champs the Wedensday and Friday.
